Message from CUTW President

Since its inception in 2005, the Chinese University of Hong Kong – Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Community College (CUTW) has been committed to provide students with an effective pathway leading to further education as well as career development. The College offers a wide range of quality Associate Degree Programmes and all-round education, helping students to achieve the goal of lifelong learning.

CUTW has now stepped into its seventh year and the number of enrolled students has been increasing considerably every year. In order to enhance the quality of teaching continuously, the College recruited several university professors last year to teach Business Management, Financial Services and Translation, etc. Meanwhile, to broaden the horizon of our students, the College has been focusing on study and exchange tours. The tours were conducted at Fudan University in Shanghai; Guangdong University of Finance; Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Beijing University of Chinese Medicine; Zhejiang Chinese Medicine University and Singapore Polytechnic. The College will continue to develop overseas partnership to enrich students’ all-round development.

CUTW does not only emphasise students’ academic performance, but also aims to cultivate students’ positive attitudes and values. For instance, the Office of Student Affairs provides a wide range of voluntary services and extra-curricular activities for students to broaden their horizon and boost their creativity. In addition, “Celebrity Talks” is being held regularly to invite distinguished speakers to share their insights and experiences with students so that students can learn from their wisdom.

CUTW celebrated its fourth graduation ceremony at the Sir Run Run Shaw Hall of The Chinese University of Hong Kong on 19 October 2010. Professor Jack Cheng, Vice President of CUHK and Mr. Billy Leung, Chairman of the College Council officiated at the ceremony. From the survey conducted on this batch of graduates, over 70% of them went on to pursue degree studies. CUTW also celebrated the first batch of graduates from the Associate of Science Programme in Health Care. Amongst the 27 graduates, 24 of them have successfully entered into the Year 3 of the Bachelor of Nursing Programme of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, which is a great achievement.

With the great support of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, we believe that every student in CUTW could attain professional knowledge and all-round development to become the future leaders of the society. We pledge to devote every effort to make your CUTW experience pertinent to your educational goals and career aspirations. We sincerely hope that old and new students will join in CUTW to fully harness their all round potential and serve the community.
