Objectives

• To help students develop a better understanding of Chinese and English languages so as to facilitate the process of translation from English into Chinese or vice versa; 
• To provide students with the knowledge of translation theories and related study, in order to apply the knowledge in problem-solving and communicative events; 
• To equip students with a broad range of cultural knowledge, including Chinese and Western cultural and intellectual modes, so as to enable them to engage successfully in intercultural communication; 
• To enhance students' appreciation of ethical and professional standards in the translation community; and
