School Head's Message
With the addition of the Associate of Arts Programme in Psychology for Academic Year 2007/2008, the School of Humanities and General Education is now offering eight Associate Degree Programmes in the arts, humanities and social sciences. The programmes offered aim to produce, in their respective ways, competent bilingual and bicultural students, with expertise in language and communication, cultural sensitivity, abilities in critical and analytical thinking, potential for innovative ideas and an awareness of social and societal change and needs.
For Hong Kong to develop into an international hub for business, trade, and international and intercultural communication, not only does she need an educated workforce equipped with the requisite professional knowledge and skills to move ahead, but to achieve a competitive edge she is also in great demand for employees and professionals that possess an inquisitive mind, who have ideas and creativity, who acquire people skills, who are trained in written and spoken communication, and who attain an understanding of the human condition and the inner workings of the human mind.
The above-mentioned aspects indeed spell out the crux of the study in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. When you enroll in the programmes offered by us, you’ll learn to equip yourself with the knowledge, skills, and qualities required of a modern day career-minded person. You’ll learn to develop yourself both academically and intellectually and grow, regardless of the profession you’ll engage yourself in.
